Seeing Color

IMG_4106

The colors of nature can be mind blowing at times...better than anything we can imagine or create. Sometimes when I take a photograph I am a little disappointed that the colors in the picture don't appear as vibrant ..( thank goodness for photoshop).

And then there are other times when the real life colors are so wonderful that you don't need to process the pictures at all. Here are some of those photos. These are all SOC...no touch ups, tweeks or fiddling whatsoever.

They were taken at one of my most favorite places. Its a little resort town on the border of New South Wales and Queensland on the Australian east coast called Byron Bay. Its an eclectic community filled with artists, hippies and beautiful people...and the beaches are just unbelieveably beautiful.

The water is so clear...that turquiose blue that you expect to see in the Caribbean. The sand is a fine, pure, white dust and the weather is warm...all the time. Ahhhh....my idea of heaven.

  1. I was just thinking how much those beaches look like the ones I played on in the Caribbean.

    LOVE that beautiful turquoise blue.

  2. Breath-taking!

The one time we visited Australia was in December 1999. We flew from Sydney to Cairns and then drove up to Port Douglas. We couldn't go in the water, though. Jellyfish warnings everywhere. Oh well, it was amazing anyway.

A little different from the beaches where you live now, huh?

  3. Oh Mama!! It's so hard to believe those are SOOC!! (I do believe you though). ;) hee-hee. I can see why you were mourning the end of your vacation! GORGEOUS!!

Maybe these will make Ken want to go! Of course, I'll have to keep him from reading Jennifer's comment. The jelly fish would be the only excuse he's need. ;)

  8. These are simply FANTASTIC! I don't think you can find these colors anywhere but Mother Nature. I can't recall having seen anything like these in my Crayola box, anyhow.

Just beautiful! Can't wait to see some more of your vacation photos!

  11. Okay...I don't think I like you anymore. Let me think...yeah, don't. You're just mean. Showing off all those wonderful SOOC beach shots of the gorgeous turquoise blue ocean and the fun shot of family and friends frolicking in the water. I'm having some serious envy issues. Really gorgeous. =)

  14. This is a lovely part of the coast.

I like natural colour, when I play with the colour of my photos in photoshop I always end up liking the original colour better.

  17. These are beautiful photos. I like the one of the boy (your son?) in the window of the lighthouse in the next post too. The clouds in the window behind him look awesome.
