My Take on Retro

After my friends comment last week about being "retro", she has inspired me to look at old things in new ways, (including but not limited to my husband!) I found this really interesting post at Hula Seventy. She talks about this wonderful photographic technique called "Through the ViewFinder" or "TtV". Basically you use an old camera to create the illusion of an old photograph. You can see some great examples of it here and here. So armed with my Kodak Duaflex that I got for $8 on ebay....

...I started snapping away. It certainly takes a bit of technique to use the "contraption" that attachs the old camera to the new one. You really are just using the Viewfinder of the old camera to filter your image through so you still take the actual pictures with your digital camera. But the results were fun. Here is my first ever TtV picture. I can really see myself loving this technique and using it alot.

  1. I've read about this technique but still don't fully understand it. Could you give me a demonstation one day this week? I'm really curious. I love the effect. :)
